The Home office has added further countries to the pre-entry Tuberculosis screening programme. Applicants from these countries, applying to come to the UK for more than 6 months will be required to produce a valid medical certificate confirming they have undergone the screening and the disease was not present.
The additional countries are listed below;

- Cameroon
- Gambia
- Hong Kong
- Indonesia
- Macau
- Malawi
- Morocco
- Sierra Leone
- Uganda
- Vietnam
- Zambia

The Home Office plan to roll the screening programme out over 67 countries with a high incidence of Tuberculosis. Their aim is to tackle the rise of Tuberculosis which currently affects a third of the world’s population, as well as cutting costs for UK tax payer by £40 million over 10 years.
If you are from one of the countries requiring pre-entry screening and submit an application without a valid medical certificate, your application will not be accepted.
