A Tier 2 visa allows UK companies to sponsor overseas migrants (replacing the employees from overseas divisions) to the UK branch.
Only those companies that have been granted a sponsorship licence can make an application to employ a person under the Tier 2 visa. In addition to this, the job on offer must be for a skilled occupation that is recognised by the UK Border Agency.

- Tier 2 General If you have been offered a position which is a recognised shortage or is recognised as a skilled position. You may need to show evidence of national advertising.
- Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer If you are currently employed by the overseas company and are required to transfer to the UK branch.
Even if your employer has a licence in place, you must meet all of the requirements of the Points Based System for this category.
If you cannot show that you meet the point requirements, the application will be refused.
