New Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2016 have been laid before Parliament, coming into force from 1st February 2017.
The Immigration EEA Regulations 2016 outline the rights of EEA nationals and their families to live in the UK, as well as deal with applications for Registration Certificates, Residence Cards and Permanent Residence.
The new version mostly formalises processes and requirements already in place, however there are a few changes worth noting;
- All applicants must complete an application form when making an application.
- Confirmation that there is no right of appeal for extended family members.
- A new verification process for the Home Office to check whether an EEA national or family member qualifies to reside in the UK.
