There have been some key changes to the Tier 1 (Investor) visa from 06th November 2014:
- The £1 million minimum investment threshold has been raised to £2 million
- The full investment sum must be invested in Qualifying Investments rather than 75% of the sum under the old rules
- The requirement that the investment must be “topped up” if its market value falls below the minimum threshold has been removed; as an alternative, Investors only need to purchase new Qualifying Investments if they sell part of their portfolios and need to replace them in order to maintain the investment threshold
- The option which allows the investment sum to be sourced as a loan from a UK financial institution has been removed
