In order to cut down abuse of the immigration system, the government will introduce new interviews for high-risk student applicants.

The government have introduced a new income threshold of £18,600 for British Citizens or settled persons who want to sponsor a non-EEA fiancé, proposed civil partner, spouse, civil partner, unmarried partner or same sex partner.

From 1 October 2012, those who overstay their UK visas by more than 28 days will be refused any application for further leave.

As of 6th April 2012, a number of changes have been made to the Immigration rules.
