UKBA have published a statement of intent to help employers prepare for changes to the points based system.
Changes to the codes of practice for skilled migrant workers from outside the EEA are set to be announced. These will affect the timing of the applications for restricted certificates of sponsorship (RCOS) in March and April, taking effect on 6 April 2013.
The changes include;
- Tier 2 overall salary thresholds increased, in line with wage inflation. Also the minimum appropriate rates for skilled workers, in each occupation are being simplified to reflect changes in pay for settled workers.
- Simplified rules on the resident labour market test to give employers more flexibility to advertise in the media they think will be most successful for their sector.
- Updated codes of practice to reflect the new Standard Occupational Classification 2010 System.
Any applications submitted on or after this date will be viewed under the new rules.
If you are an employer or individual making an application to UKBA, we can manage this process for you, giving advice on all the requirements before submission. Please contact the office on 01793 836 010 to discuss how we can help.
